Types of Life Insurance

One of the most important things that you have to remember is to get insured. This is a way of making sure that your family will be okay even if something bad happens to you.

There are two kinds of life insurance: whole or term. Term life insurance covers only a part of a person’s life. It may cover just about 20 years and then it expires. However with a whole term insurance, the insurance doesn’t expire. It goes on until you eventually expire. However there are whole life insurance policies that expire after the policy holder turns 100 years old.

The difference between the two, aside from what was mentioned earlier, is that the whole term life insurance is more expensive than the former. Obviously, term life insurance only covers a short portion of a person’s life while the whole term covers the entire life span of a person. Also, a part of the premium is deposited into a savings mechanism that is also known as the cash value. This is money that the policy holder can use in case he runs out of money to pay for the insurance premiums.

Deciding on what type of insurance you’ll get, whether term or whole term life insurance, depends on what you need. If you just need short-term insurance, then go for term life insurance. If you need insurance coverage that will last you for a lifetime, then go for whole life insurance. The decision is all up to you.
